For our steering system, we have a mechanism like this diagram at the bottom of our car. There is a circle cut out in a rectangle piece and a disc inside the cut out with just enough space for it to move. Our dowel is attached to the disc, and at the end of the dowel, we have two strings to pull to steer our car.
